We found the perfect realtor for our mom’s move to independent living. Our 92-year-old mother lived in a beautiful high-rise condominium in downtown Bellevue. She loved living there until she and her husband could no longer safely drive. Once we sold their cars, they felt trapped. Without the freedom to drive, their beautiful condo with fantastic views lost its luster and they felt somewhat alienated among their primarily younger building neighbors...

She has made it her mission to try to help these seniors to retain as much from their equity as they can.

These are the things Laura told us she would do for our mom and her husband.

• Arrange for a space planner to meet with our mom to determine what will fit in the new smaller space and what needs to be donated or disposed of.

• Arrange for everything that will be moved to the new unit to be packed up and labeled.

• Arrange for family and friends to take whatever is not going to be moved then donate what is left or dispose of it.

• Replace the carpets, repaint the walls.

• The movers moved our mom and her husband and set everything up while she and her husband stayed two days in a guest suite in the Watermark, without having to lift a finger in the move.

• Stage the condo with furniture and fixtures that are conducive to a potential buyer being able to envision what their furniture would look like.

• Arrange and provide marketing photos and list the property.

Here is the bottom line: Laura arranged everything. The condo was listed for above the price of the last comparable sale of a similar condo in the same building. The first day the listing came out there were two buyers willing to pay all cash for above the asking price. From the time our mom first toured Watermark to the day the condo sold and after they were already moved in and settled into their new home was less than 2 months. Laura made it so easy. On my wedding day, I’ll look at my bride through her veil and whisper sweetly, “This is the second best day of my life!”

The first, of course, being the day Laura Henderson was assigned to us randomly through Zillow.

As late millennials who didn’t come from families overly involved in erm…financial literacy, we didn’t know you could choose your broker and that they all came with different levels of competency. We kind of just assumed everyone had a realtor in the family or someone they kind of knew and you scratched each other’s backs once or twice in your life. Now that we know her, we will never not choose her when buying/selling a house ever again. (If it were in her business model, there’s very few things I wouldn’t bring to Laura and ask her help with.)

Laura is everything you want in a broker and more because as a non-broker, you don’t know how out of depth you are. Sure, she's friendly, timely, attentive, detail oriented, knowledgeable, and experienced, but what professional in a service industry isn’t? What Laura has on the competition is she’s real with you as her client. She’ll be just as eager to point out the flaws in a house as you are. She’ll tell you when she thinks something about the house, seller, or other broker isn’t on the up and up. Whether now is even a good/bad time to buy/sell a house. I can’t say for certain, only our 1st/2nd house after all, but I feel like in this industry, in THIS market, there’s always gonna be a guy who will help you buy a house. No matter what. Walk you all the way to the end of the dock then push you off without a second’s hesitation, what do they care?

Laura doesn’t just want to sell houses, Laura wants you to be satisfied with everything about the deal when all is said and done. You should have everything you’re looking for in a house or even investment property, feel like you weren't taken advantage of by any party (this means you Lenders), and maybe even have some fun along the way because Laura is great to be around.

None of this came from a brochure or website or mission statement we received from Laura. This is all from just looking at houses with her over the last 6ish months. You pick up on things about people when they consistently pop up in your interactions.

You should choose Laura Henderson to be your broker for no other reason than to watch the woman work. She’s a shark in a minnow pond. It’s incredible to watch someone perform their job that excellently. It’s exhilarating to watch them do it at your behest.

In 2024, we get our groceries delivered online, we interview for jobs online, we meet our future spouses or even lifelong friends… online. It’s no surprise that a matchmaking of sorts takes place online when you are finding a broker. So whatever digital deity placed Laura in our lives is one that I will continue to worship for great fortune.

As a first-time homebuyer, I felt that Laura did just make it “easy” for me to go through the process, but I felt EMPOWERED to take this step as a single female. Laura was able to put herself in my shoes and give me advice on the types of questions I should be asking and the types of answers I should be looking for. She was honest about the things she did and did not like about houses. As a homeowner herself, she brought me in on the kinds of things she’s learned in her own experience - something you rarely get out of a business deal unless it’s a friend or family member. She taught me the homebuying process, not just how to take out a mortgage as quickly as possible. The proverbial horse to water and all that.

Above all else, Laura is an absolute professional. She was always early, prepared, informed, and fierce when it came to challenging the market for my best interests. Even more, she was willing to be present at every step, ensuring that I had someone by my side who could speak from experience. At the same time, she was relatable and I enjoyed getting to learn a bit about her life and her interests. I felt like she is genuinely an advocate for helping people find a home to begin or start a new chapter of their life in.

I’ve been on two separate tours with Laura, looking at several homes on each, and was impressed at how knowledgeable she was about all of the home and build details - most of which I wouldn’t have ever thought to ask about. I appreciated that she was well-prepared and informed about each home beforehand - she was also very thoughtful about how she showed each home, gently guiding but keeping us on schedule while answering any questions I had (or looking up any answers she didn’t have!).
